The great thing about wikis is how well they lend themselves to collaborative effort. Because Montana is such a large state with a relatively small population of tribal-tongue speakers, this wiki can provide a convenient "meeting place." If you would like to be a contributor to this wiki, please contact me so that I can invite you through your e-mail account. In the blue border at the bottom of the page, click on the link "Contact the owner." I'll supply you with the log-in password. It is unbelievably easy to edit a wiki. The first time might be an unsettling experience, but once you get your feet wet, you'll enjoy the process. If you can type, you can edit a wiki. I'll be available to "talk" you through it.

Wiki RSS subscribers

If you would rather just be kept current on changes to the wiki, you can be alerted when new content is added. In the blue border at the bottom of the page, click on "RSS feed." You'll be taken to a site where you're allowed to subscribe to the RSS feed for preservemontanalanguages.pbkiwki.com through either your bookmarks, Google, Yahoo, or Bloglines. You'll then be notified when changes are made to the wiki.

Real-Time Chat 

Another web tool I've included on the wiki is a chat feature. This "chat" feature uses no microphones -- just a keyboard. The chatting is actually typing. People can use the feature to communicate with each other in real time, not experiencing time delays that occur with e-mail. Several people can chat at one time. The way to use a chat feature is to agree in advance on a set date and time. Then all join the "chat room" to carry on a typed conversation at the designated hour. Prior to your first chat, you'll need to set up a free Google Talk account.
